Tecno is gearing up to introduce the first smartphone powered by MediaTek’s newly announced Helio G200 chipset. The upcoming Tecno Spark 40 Pro+ will be the first device to showcase this upgraded processor, while the exact chip configurations for the other Spark 40 series models remain unconfirmed for now.
According to Tecno, the Helio G200 brings a 10% performance boost over the previous Helio G100, with benchmark scores hitting around 470,000 points on AnTuTu. The new chip maintains the Mali-G57 MC2 GPU but bumps its clock speed to 1.1GHz, slightly higher than the 1.0GHz found on the G99 and G100.
Tecno is also integrating customized super-resolution algorithms into the Spark 40 Pro+, allowing graphics to render at 1.5K resolution. For context, the older G100 chip was used in models like the Spark 30 Pro and Camon 40 Pro 4G.

In terms of connectivity, Tecno sheds light on a feature called 4G DC SAR (Dynamic Communication Smart Adaptive Response), which is designed to improve network efficiency in weak signal areas. This should translate into faster data speeds for everyday tasks like streaming and online gaming. T
he Helio G200 also introduces 12-bit Dual Conversion Gain (DCG) support for the camera, promising better HDR video capture, although Tecno has not yet revealed any specifics about the Spark 40 Pro+ camera hardware.
Speaking on the upcoming release, Joey Qu, Senior Product Manager at Tecno, said:
“The Spark 40 Series will not just be raising specs. With the Helio G200 as its engine, the Spark 40 Series redefines what’s possible in its class, offering an unprecedented experience for its users — all while delivering signature slim design.”
The Tecno Spark 40 Series is set for a global unveiling in July. More information regarding the phones’ design, performance, and Tecno’s latest AI features is expected in the coming weeks.
