The Apple Watch Series 4 Aluminum features a 40mm or 44mm case made from lightweight aluminum. it has a Retina LTPO OLED display with a resolution of 324 x 394 pixels on the 40mm model and 368 x 448 pixels on the 44mm model. The screen supports Force Touch and is protected by Ion-X strengthened glass. The device is powered by the Apple S4 dual-core 64-bit processor, which Apple claims is twice as fast as the previous generation.
This smartwatch includes 16GB of internal storage and 1GB of RAM. It runs on watchOS 5, which supports a range of health and fitness tracking features. The Series 4 introduces an electrical heart sensor capable of taking electrocardiograms (ECG) and includes an optical heart rate sensor. It also has an accelerometer and gyroscope that can detect falls and measure physical activity.
Connectivity options include Bluetooth 5.0, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n at 2.4GHz, and optional LTE support on cellular models. The device is rated IP68 for water resistance, allowing it to be submerged up to 50 meters. The battery capacity is approximately 296mAh, providing up to 18 hours of typical use according to Apple’s estimates.
Additional sensors include an ambient light sensor and a barometric altimeter. The watch supports GPS and GLONASS for location tracking. It also features a speaker and microphone for calls and Siri interaction. The Apple Watch Series 4 Aluminum is compatible with iPhone 5s or later running iOS 12 or higher.
