The Samsung Galaxy A8s is Samsung’s first smartphone featuring a display with a hole-punch design that houses the front-facing camera. It is also the first Samsung device to use the Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 processor and to run Android 9.0 Pie out of the box.
The phone has a 6.4-inch Full HD+ IPS LCD display with a resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels. The screen includes a circular cutout located at the top left corner for the front camera, replacing the conventional notch design found on devices like the Apple iPhone X.
Under the hood, the Galaxy A8s is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 chipset, which features an octa-core CPU with a maximum clock speed of 2.2 GHz and an Adreno 616 GPU. It is indeed available with either 6 GB or 8 GB of RAM and comes with 128 GB of internal storage, which is not expandable via microSD.
The rear camera system consists of three sensors: a 24 MP primary camera, a 10 MP telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom, and a 5 MP depth sensor. The fingerprint scanner is positioned on the back of the device. Connectivity options include Bluetooth 5.0 and a USB Type-C port.
The galaxy A8s runs Samsung’s One UI on top of Android 9.0 Pie. It supports dual SIM cards with 4G VoLTE on both slots. The device is powered by a 3400 mAh non-removable battery. Additional specifications and features are summarized in the accompanying table.
